The system fails Autistic adults between the ages of 25 and retirement and possibly beyond. The Social Care set-up turns benefits into Indian Gifts by awarding them with one hand and taking them back with the other leaving parents and/or carers to make up the shortfall whatever their financial situation. This is unsustainable and pushes them all towards penury which is a biased and totally unfair situation which only the rich can survive and which seriously diminishes even their chances of doing so. The employment rewards are reserved for support workers on minimum wages which is a waste as most of this money could be redirected towards real training on proper jobs for both supported and non-supported employment for all thus diminishing the gap between the neurotypical and neuro-atypical individual by funding understanding of the real situation on the ground which consists of normal lifespans of great hardship without realistic lasting support and more often than not no support at all.
